How Adore Me celebrates PRIDE

Inclusivity has always been important to us here at Adore Me, but it feels extra pertinent during Pride Month.

No matter who you are, we’ve always aimed to make you feel 100 percent confident and beautiful in your own skin, 365 days a year. Because when it comes down to it, we believe everyone should feel encouraged to be their authentic selves—and to accept others who do the same. And no one embodies acceptance and inclusion more than the LGBTQ+ community.

That’s why when Adore Me teammate Marie approached me about participating in Pride Month, we immediately gathered to decide how we could make an impact and celebrate Pride: by partnering with the Trans Wellness Center to donate bras and panties and contributing proceeds to the LGBTQ+ community in the process. We’ll also be proudly participating in the NYC World Pride March as a company to help in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

The fashion industry as a whole still has a ways to go in becoming more inclusive, but I know I speak for the entire Adore Me team when I say we’re extremely excited and committed to standing by and empowering the LGBTQ+ and nonbinary community—not just during Pride Month, but always.

Happy Pride Month,

Morgan Hermand-Waiche, CEO

Pride matters to me so much because everyone deserves to feel safe and loved for the person that they truly are. This seemingly basic human value is often overlooked and denied to many. Having a transgender brother has made even more clear the importance of acceptance and unconditional love. Supporting him through his transition and getting to watch him become the person he was always meant to be has been one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. He is, hands down, one of the most courageous and loving people I know. I feel fortunate to have learned so much through him. I can only hope that one day we can all support and accept our peers unconditionally for who they truly are.

I’m proud to support the LGBTQ+ community and participate in Pride Month. As a new mom of an (almost) 2-year-old, it fills my heart to know that my son can grow up in a world where he can love who he wants to love and—most importantly—be who he wants to be. Love is love, and I’m so inspired by what Pride represents.

Pride to me is a celebration of acceptance and love. Growing up I was always so afraid to live my truth, I never thought is was tangible. Today I can confidently say that I am living my honest truth and have never been happier. It means the world to me that I have family, friends, and a company that really supports my community. Be kind to each other and remember love always wins.

My brother came out when he was 22—he never told us, but he dropped hints. Eventually he came out to my dad, who told my mom. She later said to me, “When I saw your dad crying, I thought that one of you died. I was so relieved when he just said Remy’s gay!” Soon after, we met my brother’s boyfriend who’s now fully part of our family. I’m so proud to see my family supporting and accepting my brother and his boyfriend, and I’m so happy to be participating in the NYC World Pride March with Adore Me. Together, let’s show the world that love always wins.

For me, Pride is all about the courage to be who you are, the ability to love whoever you choose, and never being made to feel ashamed because of it. My brother came out many years ago. He had nothing but support and love from all those around him and was able to be free and proud to live his life any way he chose to. Today he is happily married to the man of his (and my family’s) dreams! I support Pride to make sure that everyone has the same opportunities to live life freely with pride and never be made to feel ashamed of who they are. Love is love.

I’m so grateful to be part of an inclusive company that not only supports the LGBTQ+ community but recognizes the diverse space where we share & live these experiences together. Seeing my close relatives & friends blossom into unique individuals and let their personalities confidently shine through love & acceptance warms my heart to the core. <3

Pride matters to me because everyone deserves love, respect and kindness. For me empowerment means equality, dignity and freedom—freedom to love, freedom to be who you are. The judgment, hostility and disregard rooted within our society needs to end now. We ain’t got no time for homophobia, only love!

–Priya S., Planning Manager

Love is so special and so important to have in life. To be told the way you want to express that love is “wrong” or “disgusting” is heartbreaking and, to put it simply, outdated. We are all on the scale of “queer” and it’s time for us all to celebrate where we are and accept how others identify. I can’t wait to celebrate Pride with Adore Me and help others feel seen and loved! I’m proud to work for a company that supports people to feel safe to navigate their feelings for other people.

The day my younger sister came out to me as a transgender woman was the day I felt I could finally see her – really, truly see her. She’d let me in, and I witnessed the facade she’d been putting up gradually crumble away until all that was left was just my little sister, vulnerable yet more vibrant than I remember ever seeing her.

Between the emotion of the moment and her nervous fidgeting, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything quite as profound and as humbling as the moment when someone you love, no holds barred, shares their true and authentic selves with you, trusting – and all the while hoping – that you’d accept them without judgment.

I am SO grateful for her trust and SO proud of her courage.

So, this year, I’m ecstatic to be able to participate in the NYC World Pride March with Adore Me, where I’ll march alongside my sister in celebration and support of the LGBTQ+ community. I march to celebrate my sister’s courage, her strength, her softness; for the days behind us where I couldn’t know her, but most of all, for the days ahead that the world finally will.
