Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is just listen. We’re #hereforit- we want to listen as much as we can and use our platform as a safe place to have the uncomfortable conversations. To kick things off, we got up close and personal with our longtime Adore Me model- the gorgeous Taelor Thein to understand what it truly means to be the “The Black Friend”, “The Black Model” and just a woman of color in America.
Born and raised in Iowa to a black father and a white mother – Taelor shares simple but very personal stories about being constantly reminded that she was different. From spending her teenage years straightening her hair to resisting prejudice in the fashion industry by having to carry her own hair products while on shoot- she walks us through the root cause of her anxieties and explains why the issue of racial profiling in America really isn’t black and white.
